On the contrary -- you SHOULD "mess with the subject
line" when the subject changes. So folks interested
in "Rebuilding a kernel" don't have to follow the
thread when it drifts into "Colonel Sander's chicken
Rx".
IIRC, threading is done based on the In-Reply-To
header,
*not* the Subject header (can someone verify that?).
