maybe we will better understand how people can say stuff like that. :-)

Amazingly, roads were widely used even before bicycles were invented.
Bicycles were invented before automobiles, and bicycles were widely used
before automobiles.

So don't be fooled by popular dramatizations that show people hopping
their horses, wagons, and bicycles from rooftop to rooftop before roads
were invented.  They are not true! :-)
