I recently dealt with Dakotacom in their new guise as a subsidiary of
Nationwide.net -- the way I understood it, Nationwide owns Dakotacom and
Dako still does their local tech support. [I was going to use them for
DSL service for my mother-in-law on the far Eastside of town at $25.99
because Qwest kept flip-flopping on the price: $21.95 if done via the
web, $26.95 otherwise, then the $21.95 deal disappeared from the web
site, then phone sales said DSL is now always $21.95. We went with Qwest
and MSN <sigh>.]
GAIN was cool back in the mid-90s -- they used to offer a free account
for BBS operators. I had that for a few years and then shut down the thing.
