Very *loose* rule-of-thumb:
Pin 1 closest to the power connector. This
*tends* to be true for almost all types of drives
(though I am sure I can find exceptions in my
own cache of drives). If you have to *guess*,
the odds are in your favor with this mnemonic.
(assuming there are not markings or keys to
*tell* you otherwise)
