dunno about thunderbird.  it is nice though that they are making an
attempt to simplify the dot files for firefox itself.

debian unstable firefox (1.5) seems to be held for a bunch of security
bugs, at least one of which is grave.  so i have been holding off
(unless there is an easy way to patch).
