Too bad mailman doesn't store the date of deactivation along with the
subscriber's name.
FWIW on all my mailman lists I have a cron job on a different machine that e-
mails that the machine a current list subscription list (daily or weekly
depending on the list activity). I do this so I can rebuild the current active
list as of any given day (or week) if I have problems like this. Also, if my
list machine goes up in smoke, I can quickly advise list members of the problem
through another system, and I can reactivate the current list elsewhere quickly
if it's that kind of list.
Having current lists like this might have prevented the inadvertent addition of
former subscribers.
FWIW, YMMV, etc.
