i've been having massive problems with my qwest dsl, ever since i
signed up -- it goes out for a few hours every other day.  the repair
dudes have been over here a dozen times, they've switched out the
modem, changed pairs from the CO to the crossbox and from the crossbox
to here, taken out the bridge taps -- the problem is definitely not on
my side of the demarc, as evidenced by the fact that i can plug the
modem directly into the demarc and it makes no difference.  it seems
like my neighborhood (grant & mountain) is too close to the CO to
warrant a remote DSLAM and too far away to reliably receive the signal
from the CO (they have told me i am "directly" connected to the CO). 
paradoxical, i know.

anyway, in the process of figuring all this out i have written a
python script to suck the signal stats data out of my actiontec
gt701-wg modem and put them into a file, so if anybody could use a
copy let me know.
