At this point I'm less worried about what time the system clock thinks it
is than I am that this drift may be symptomatic of some other, potentially
more serious, problem with the system. If this drift isn't due to a
problem with the hardware clock (battery, or whatever), then it is due to
something wrong with whatever drives the software clocking. My concern is
that "whatever" could cause problems elsewhere if it becomes severe enough
(timing disconnects between CPU, I/O pipes, disks, you name it).
The original reply (from Glenn) indicated that the problem was fixed with a
new battery. I'm going to give that a try and see what happens. If the
drift continues, then I'll worry.
