I've been using QWest DSL via The River for about a year, and while I'm
happy with The River's side of things, QWest is problematic if you have
troubles with their service. The DSL router went belly-up (for no reason I
can tell - it just died) on a Saturday. After two long discussions with
QWest service they agreed that the router was dead and they agreed to send
me one so that it would arrive on Monday. Come Tuesday and no router, I
called again. No record could be found of my earlier call or any order for
a new router. This time they insisted that I pay for the router they were
shipping, which would be reimbursed when they had the broken unit back.
That one finally showed up the following Monday (after two more phone calls
to QWest) and I mailed out the broken unit on Tuesday (again, support from
the folks at The River getting me back on-line once I had a working router
was excellent). To make a very long continuing story short, it took six
phone calls over five months to get the reimbursement. Each time I was
assured that the last person I spoke with was an idiot (since no record
could be found of earlier contacts) and THIS time the reimbursement would
show up. One of these individuals actually told me that most people
working support for QWest could care less about really doing their jobs and
would not enter work orders or change requests. I've had similar support
issues with QWest phone service, both at home and at my business.
So, having it to do over I'd not go with QWest.
