I had cox in Tucson for the past three years. Overall, I was happy with
the speed and reliability, and like others have expressed, less than
happy with their service, etc. That said, as much as I hated dealing
with cox, I hate dealing with qwest even more. Maybe others have had
better experiences, but...
When I first got a land line in Tucson, the service guy did all the
numbers; the monthly bill was going to be about 20 bucks/month, the
installation fee was supposed to be, I don't remember, something like 14
bucks (special deal). My first bill was $96.00. I wasn't too happy.
The "special deal" they didn't give me, and I was charged 40 bucks or so
for the installation (it's been over three years, can't remember exactly
how much) plus other ridiculousness. When I called to get everything
straightened out, they said they had no record of having employed the
guy I talked to. They finally found his info, and he had been in a
training group, apparently, and he was no longer working for qwest.
Anyway, it was a headache and a half; I spent 2 hours on the phone
trying to get it all straightened out. I closed out my account with
qwest and have never looked back.
My experience is atypical, though I have many friends who are equally
bitter about qwest, and I haven't dealt with them in regards to dsl. I
hope your experience is better.
