Look in lspci for an EHCI controler, that's the USB2.0 part magically
duct-taped on top of the USB1.1 ports. Also, check if ehci_hcd is in lsmod
(if you're running a 2.6 kernel)

I havn't had fantastic luck with USB drive enclosures in general, they
tend to be twitchier and pickier than their firewire counterparts in my use.
