Phil Schiller (Sr VP of Marketing @ Apple) has stated that they will do
nothing to prevent people from running Windows on the Mac. At the very
least Virtual PC should run well, or maybe a port of WINE.

Running Mac on other Intel boxes will probably take a little bit of effort.
They are obviously going to try some way of locking it into running only on
their boxes, whatever they may use.

The Mactel development box is a standard P4 machine - but just because Apple
is going to "Intel" doesn't really mean much right now. Perhaps they will
use EFI instead of a BIOS? I expect the Apple machines to be full of all
sorts of cutting edge Intel tech - kind of like their company to push
computing forward. Short term Apple is going to really hurt, but long term
this could really turn out well for them for a number of reasons. Or it
could be a prelude to them being an arm of Intel producing cutting edge
Windows PCs :) :(
