[Tfug] Any Linux Chix out there?

Once, (before I used Unix exclusively and no M$ software at all) I had a
discussion with a really hardcore unix user. Actually, he was a kernel
developer. He used Linux with Win4Lin and I used cygwin on Windows. We
had a common problem, and that was (M$ Project/M$ Exchange); thus, we
were forced into the Windows world.
He said I was a "sellout" for using Windows! Of course, I countered
because he's using Win4Lin (same difference in my opinion)! Still called
me a "sellout." So, I set up a thin client to boot from my Windows
machine into AIX and then I would just forward applications (X11/ICA)
from my windows machine and a server to the thin client. That way I
would basically be doing almost the exact same thing as he was. I never
got him to agree, but the fact remains there are a lot of anti-M$ out
there that are blinded by the M$ hatred. Maybe I'm one of them. Really,
he was the one that brought it up. I was willing to live contently with
windows and cygwin, and working exclusively through the servers while
updating status on Project and checking mail with Outlook. No big deal.
The executives were trying to convert me to M$, but to no avail.
I think there was a saying once, "People who live in a house with
Windows, live in a house surrounded by Gates." Of course, I'm paraphrasing.
To me, it's no big deal if you want to use wine to play warcraft 3 or
even if you're dual booting. Also no big deal even if you use Windows
all of the time. My wife uses Windows because of Pagemaker, Photoshop,
Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, Director, etc... I know many of these
are moving to unix or already have software counterparts on unix, but
she's still using Windows. She started on Vms and Linux. Then, she had a
hasty encouter with the previous Mac OS. Then Darwin came out (and for
x86!). Even after all that, still using Windows. I don't know how it
made it into my house. Probably was before we were even married. I'm not
happy about having to support Windows in my home, but we have an
agreement. Our daughter is already learning to use Linux :-D I think my
wife's heart is still with Vms though.
I hope that wasn't a rant. I just wanted to share that experience I had.
If anyone had one similar, you are not alone.
Does anyone remember Eric Brown from about 3-5 years ago? His girlfriend
then was April something. I don't know if either of them were on this
list or not.
