It's a love / hate thing, ignoring the administrative aspects.  Lots of
the students I've talked to complain about a lack of directly applicable
to a job courses.  OTOH, theory means you just might still have a job 5
years down the line.  Personally, I'd like to see a few more theory
classes, as opposed to just one on a number of subjects, but I suppose
that's what the masters degree program is for.

But, this semester there's now a .NET ASP web dohickey class, which
might calm some of those people in the first group up (but the class
only counts as a general upper division course, _NOT_ part of the
requirement for the degree specifically).;
