If you are desparate enough and wouldn't mind sacrificing the Linux install
in order to get rid of the NTLDR Missing problem, you might try (gasp) DOS
utilities.
(works on other than IBM drives)
Zap zeros the Master Boot Record and the first Partition Boot Record. It can
be used with both SCSI and IDE drives
http://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/hddtech/zap.exe
Wipe is a DOS software utility that writes zeroes to every sector on a hard
disk drive up to 8 GB
http://service.boulder.ibm.com/storage/hddtech/wipe.exe
More details....

If you don't have DOS....
http://www.drdos.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=vi
ewdownload&cid=1
(don't know how you'd get this if you didn't have dos to extract and build
it )
maybe you could use rawrite on the images....

But then if you had DOS, you could fdisk /mbr to overwrite ntldr in the mbr
