[Tfug] [tcslst] Folding Team Anniversary (fwd)

Although TFUG could create it's own Folding Team...

Those who could lend a little processing time might just as easily join
the TCS team.

You don't have to join the Society to join the Folding Team, and the
software runs low priority so it won't interfere with whatever else
you've got going on.

The Linux version runs in console mode and couldn't be easier to
install.

The Team Number, again, is 883.

Give it some time, or at least some consideration.

Before you begin flaming me for posting
SPAM or off-topic material, please review http://www.tfug.org/aup.html.

This week marks the first anniversary of our Folding @ Home team,
part of a global distributed computing effort underway to find cures
for various diseases. 40,000 points later (and some 14 years of 24/7
computations) has placed the TCS in 60th place among the 12,000 or so
teams.

The scope of the overall effort is quite amazing - 80,000 active
computers producing the equivalent of 50 years of research in one day!

Thanks goes out to all the TCS members who've contributed a few
processor cycles in the effort. You'll find everyone here:

http://www.statsman.org/folding2stats/html/883.html

To those who would like to know what it's all about please direct
your browser to this location:

http://folding.stanford.edu/

Joining the TCS Folding Team is easy. Download and launch the
program, then right-click the icon on the task bar, click configure,
then put in a user name and team number 883. Download the program
here:

http://folding.stanford.edu/download.html

Points are awarded upon completion of a task, typically taking from 8
to 36 hours depending on your processor's speed. The TCS could be a
formidable presence with all our members out there so please, give it
a try!
