Casey,
Just try it. It's pretty good.
The core team members *are* in it for the money, so you won't get support
for things like SCSI unless you pay for it. Still, it's not expensive.
A new revision of Smoothwall is due, RSN. It's now in beta. It will NOT be
GPL like the current version is.
