[Tfug] Newbie doesn't understand error message

Every time I try to apt-get install anything

I get a short message that tells me to apt-get -f
install

When I run that command I get

1 package not fully installed or removed
need to get 0B/26.3kb of archives after unpacking
119kb will be used
Dou you want to continue (Y/n]

I press ENTER or Y and get a third error message

dpkg: error processing
/var/cache/apt/archive/libopenlddp-runtime_l%3a1.2
12_all.deb (--unpack)

I hope that means something to someone because it is
gibberish to me.

I would appreciate any suggestions on what to try next
