[Tfug] Samba, win98, an Epson C40UX printer, and a path not found error

I recently began installing and configuring samba so that my wife and I
and share files and the printer. (I'm running Debian testing, and she's
running win98 on a laptop). While I've been able to get file sharing
working, we have an Epson C40UX printer that is giving me grief. I have
the CUPS printing system installed on my system, and I can print fine from
my box. From the win98 machine, I -can- see/map the printer. When I
attempt to install the printer using the
existing drivers (the printer used to be attached to her computer), I get
a "This printer could not be installed. Quit all programs, restart
Windows, and then try again" error. If I replace the existing drivers the
printer will be installed, but when I attempt to print a test page, I get
the error: "There was an error writing to \\zeigler\c40ux for printer
(Epson Stylus C40 Series): The network name cannot be found." This
happens even though I "browsed" to find the printer to add. . . I
googled around a bit and found someone with a similar problem on a Epson
Stylus 800. They ended up installing the printer on the windows machine
with the Epson PostScript CARD driver, and, apparently, this worked out. I
attempted that, but couldn't find the files windows wanted on my win98SE
disk. I initally configured smb.conf by hand, and got the file
sharing set up that way, but still couldn't "see"/map-to the printer, so I
used swat . Here are the relevent sections of smb.conf:
[global]
printcap name = /etc/printcap.cups
printing = cups
[printers]
comment = All Printers
path = /var/spool/samba
create mask = 0700
printable = Yes
[C40UX]
comment = Epson C40UX
path = /var/spool/samba
read only = No
create mask = 0700
printable = Yes
printer name = c40ux
browseable = Yes
oplocks = No
Thanks.
