I'm just now being introduced to the concept of using XML generated
GUI's in conjunction with Java app's. I'm actually tweaking a "Hello
World" type calculator app from www.thinlet.com in between email
replies. I'm not sure if the Cocoa project is related to this movement
(XML generated GUI's) or not...
But I'm impressed with what I'm seeing so far.
It also turns out it's a lot easier than I thought it would be. :-D
+ I'm probably responding to some of what was said below:

. Even better - Apple actually does work on the Sun JVM and submits it back to
. Sun. The Mac JRE is pretty much completely done by Apple (rather, the Mac
. specific parts are). You don't get your JRE from Sun, but from Apple.
.
. Currently they are behind at 1.3.1, but thatıs because they decided to
. change the way that Java interfaces with the system. Previously, it
. interfaced with the Carbon APIs. This is being changed so that it
. interfaces with the Cocoa stuff for the GUI. Not being a Java developer, I
. don't completely understand what they mean, but Apple is definitely behind
. Java. Their stated goal is to be right with Sun on releases of Java.

. James Gosling is a Mac OS X user, btw,
