Nice.

I decided to research it.

According to http://java.sun.com/getjava/others.html, OSX ships with 
Java 2 and Classic used it's own VM (called the MRJ -- Mac OS Runtime 
for Java). 

When I wrote my reply, of course, I was imagining Dell and HP and the 
other popular PC manufacturers sitting around together with MS 
executives, all of them plotting together to frustrate the growth of 
third party operating systems and programming languages.

In my excitement, I forgot all about the good people at Apple.

I also forgot the few, mostly discount, retailers who are selling PC's 
with Linux or Lindows pre-installed. I would guess at least a percentage 
of these systems come with the Sun JRE.
