I have basically the same problem on my laptop from time to time. It seems
that setting this system hardware clock doesn't work with some BIOSes, even
though after setting the hardware clock seems to report correctly. Have you
tried setting the time in the BIOS settings and seeing if it makes a
difference? Seems to be the only thing that work on mine.
